Who said pumpkins and pancakes don’t mix?

Sundays in our house have long been pancake day. Ever since the kids were little, I started making pancakes for them on Sunday mornings cooking up dad’s favorite recipe that has just a touch of cinnamon and vanilla.

But this Sunday, I won’t need to do the cooking as we head down to South Coast Plaza for the CASA of Orange County’s 19th Annual Pumpkins & Pancakes Halloween Extravaganza.

As past attendees of this event, we can vouch that not only are the pancakes good, but there is plenty of fun to be had for the whole family.

Besides enjoying a gourmet pancake breakfast, there is face painting, balloon artists, arts and crafts, opportunity drawings, a silent auction and more. There is always a character or two for the kids to meet, like Curious George (see photo above), and this year, the Disney Road Crew will be on hand for music, games, contests and prizes.

And it all goes for a good cause as proceeds from Pumpkins and Pancakes goes to the CASA house, which helps abused and neglected children in Orange County.

So swing on down to the Crate & Barrel/Macy’s Home Store wing at South Coast Plaza (formerly Crystal Court) between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tickets are $30 each, $25 for groups of 10 or more (if ordered by Friday Oct. 22), $35 at the door.

  1. Sounds like such a fun and amazing event. Wish I was in town to attend. And your pancake tradition sounds awesome- I’m sure the kiddos will remember it fondly when they’re older. :)

  2. It was a lot of fun! I really did enjoy it :-)
