Dad’s Morning Brew

  • I like teachers. I have many friends who are teachers. In fact, I am a teacher. But I see nothing wrong with encouraging schools to hold teachers accountable in order to receive federal funding. President Obama has taken heat from the teachers unions for requiring such things, but instead of criticizing Obama, the teachers should join the effort to weed out bad teachers from the classroom. Nobody benefits from a bad teacher. Not the school, not the parents and most importantly, not the kids. The kids deserve better. According to this story in the OC Register, some local school districts are opting out of the federal money, presumably because they don’t like the new teaching reform guidelines. I’m proud to say that the Fullerton School District is accepting the funds. I sure hope those districts that don’t won’t be crying foul when the budget cuts come later this year. OC REGISTER
