Celebrating our wild 15-year journey
It was 15 years ago today that I had an incredible stroke of luck and my wife Elizabeth actually said “I do.”
It was a great ceremony that brought together two local families from St. Pius V Catholic Church, the Doderos and the Wurms. Since then, we’ve added a few passengers to the journey, Danielle, Kristen and Nate. Together, we have tons of fun and keep busy with sports and academics and just daily life.
Beth constantly amazes me with all she does. She shuttles the kids to school, to soccer, to baseball, to football, to swimming, to piano lessons, to NCL meetings and to more trips to Disneyland than probably any humans on earth. She takes an active role in all three of their lives. She has a kind and giving heart that probably many don’t know about because she does it quietly, whether it is helping out a teacher or dropping $20 in the pocket of a homeless person. She’s taught me plenty about patience and understanding.
That doesn’t mean to say we haven’t had our rocky roads along the journey. We have. But as I always tell my kids the best things in life are those things you work hard at. My marriage to Beth is no exception.
